About this gown
We start every Lumière gown from a single bolt of mulberry silk satin, checked by hand for the way it catches light before it ever meets a pattern. The panels are cut on the bias, which is slower and wastes more fabric, but it is why the skirt falls in one continuous line instead of pooling stiffly at the hem. A structured interior lining sits under the bodice and hip, built from layered cotton-blend panels rather than boning, so the gown holds its shape while you sit, dance or simply stand still at a long dinner. The neckline is finished with a narrow strip of French Chantilly lace, hand-cut and set by one seamstress per gown so the scallops sit evenly against the skin. We keep the inside as considered as the outside: seams are bound, not raw, and the lining is soft enough to wear for hours without needing a slip underneath. This is a dress built to be lived in for an entire evening, not just photographed for the first ten minutes.
