About the Camille Plus-Size Silk Gown
We draft the Camille from its own pattern block rather than taking a small-size gown and simply grading it up. That difference shows in the shoulder seam, the waist curve, and how the silk sits across the back, all of which need their own proportions rather than a stretched version of someone else's. The structured lining runs through the bodice and waist, built to support without pinching at the side seam, which is usually where a poorly graded gown fails first. At the shoulder, we add a small hand-finished panel of French Chantilly lace, enough to soften the neckline without adding bulk. Every Camille gown is fitted on a dress form built to its actual size range before it is approved for cutting, not adjusted afterward. It is a gown built to fit the body it was designed for, from the first pattern piece onward.
